About Lot Squared Development (Luxury)/Stony Creek Homes (Mid-Market)/DC HomeBuyer (Acquisitions): The organization is a leading, fully-integrated, real estate investment company specializing in the development of high-profile luxury homes, mid-market homes and boutique condominiums, and home rehabilitations in Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland (DMV). Lot Squared focuses on the luxury market. Stony Creek focuses on mid-market homes. This role works across all business units to provide financial analysis and insights.

About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Specialist who can transform complex financial data into actionable insights while maintaining accurate bookkeeping records. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, possess strong Excel skills, and have the ability to create sophisticated financial models that drive strategic decision-making in our real estate operations.

Summary: The FP&A Specialist is a critical role in our business, responsible for financial modeling, analysis, and bookkeeping to ensure data-driven decision making across our portfolio of real estate investments. This person will serve as the analytical backbone for evaluating investment opportunities and monitoring financial performance.

Key Responsibilities: Financial Analysis and Modeling

  • Create and maintain sophisticated financial models in Excel for analyzing real estate investments

  • Develop comparison tools for evaluating different financing options and investment scenarios

  • Build custom analytical tools to support strategic decision-making

  • Generate insights from financial data to guide investment strategy

  • Conduct detailed analysis of project costs, returns, and risks

Bookkeeping and Financial Operations

  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with bookkeeping duties

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes

  • Reconcile accounts and ensure data accuracy

  • Assist with preparation of financial reports and statements

  • Track and analyze key financial metrics

Strategic Support

  • Provide analytical support for investment decisions

  • Create financial forecasts and projections

  • Analyze historical data to identify trends and opportunities

  • Develop recommendations based on financial analysis

  • Support leadership team with ad-hoc analysis and reporting

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in financial analysis and modeling

  • Expert-level Excel skills with ability to create sophisticated financial tools

  • Experience with bookkeeping and financial record-keeping

  • Understanding of real estate finance preferred but not required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Experience:

  • 3+ years experience in financial analysis or related role

  • Demonstrated track record of creating financial models and analytical tools

  • Experience with accounting/bookkeeping software

  • Background in real estate finance a plus
