As the Product Manager Tech III, you will be responsible for Checkout and Payment systems serving the Whole Foods Market business at scale across North America, Canada and the UK. This role will work across the broader World Wide Grocery stores organization to identify and drive optimization and convergence opportunities. This role is a critical member of the Checkout Engineering leadership team and will influence the overall strategy for the organization.
The right candidate will possess a strong Product Management background and will be a subject matter expert in Tier 1 Checkout, payment and enterprise integrations of these systems. This role will be based in Austin, TX.
Our environment is fast-paced, and requires someone who is flexible, detail-oriented, data-driven and analytical, and comfortable collaborating with multiple worldwide stakeholders, including: 3P POS (point of sale), SCO (Self Checkout) and payments providers; support and operations; technology teams; business program and product management; and senior leaders across Amazon and Wholefoods. This is a highly visible position and hence you must have the experience and capability to write bar raising narratives for and align your roadmap with Amazon’s strategic objectives. Excellent written, verbal communication and data analytical skills are a necessity.
Key job responsibilities
- Own product roadmap and oversee execution
- Define near and long-term product vision
- Author high-impact narratives & documents (PRFAQs, strategic proposals etc.) for review by senior leadership team
- Responsible for the strategy of complex initiatives, significant improvements or new features
- Lead technical design of projects driving delivery from requirements through implementation.
- Drive cross-team alignment across multiple tech teams
- Define and measure Key Performance Indicators.
- Mentors fellow Team Members in best practices
A day in the life
As a PMT for Checkout systems (POS, Self-Checkout, Hospitality POS), you are responsible for driving the SDLC for business and technical features for the product and services owned by the team. You'll tackle a prioritized backlog of improvements for, focusing on operational excellence. Collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams, you'll progress high-priority items while also driving the long term vision for these products and managing the roadmap. Your expertise will be crucial in mentoring junior members and translating stakeholder requirements into innovative technical solutions that propel our global retail operations forward.
About the team
We are a small, dynamic team responsible for the Checkout systems in WWGST's Whole Foods Market stores. Our work is critical to the smooth operation of all retail locations. We collaborate closely with third-party software vendors to optimize our core POS solutions, while also working directly with operations partners, product teams, and other technical and support teams across WWGST. Our mission is to continuously improve the POS experience for both our store associates and customers, driving operational excellence.
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
- Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight
- Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
